Capcom Makes XBLA Change Its Regulations… Again

Written by Ryan on May 20th, 2008 7:58 PM

At the dawn of Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade platform, a paltry 50MB was all that developers were allowed for their arcade titles. With the advent of games like Castlevania and Street Fighter HD, Microsoft decided to up this limit to 150MB, in order to allow expansion of their growing platform. Now, Microsoft has again increased the file size limit to 350MB per title. This, mostly due to Capcom and their title Bionic Commando: Rearmed which is bound to be released very, very soon. (I hope)

This new change will hopefully make developers look towards the XBLA platform and create original titles for the service. They no longer have to fear the extra work required to make a full game fit into such a small space. The increased size is a result of discussions with game developers and Microsoft partners, says David Edery in an interview with gamesindustry.biz.
