Not surprisingly the new Watchmen trailer looks good, very good. But the question of quality was never over the look — Zack Snyder is a visionary director, strictly in a visual sense. The problem is his ham handed approach to everything else, especially considering the mountain of depth and practically un-filmable source material of Alan Moore’s graphic novel. But that’s a discussion for another day.

Missing the point of the novel, a new set of downloadable episodic Watchmen ‘brawler’ games will be released. One will be tied to the movie release, and the other to the DVD release. It’s Warner Brothers’ solution to get away from the crap licensed game trend — even if the very notion of a game sounds out of place in relation to the Watchmen universe. Though, it is good to see that studios are testing a new model to start building some trust with gamers, and they certainly need it.

The Watchmen game will essentially be a full featured Xbox 360 and PS3 release split in two. Despite the episodic branding, expect that the graphics will be as good as any retail game. Other details are scant, though you can play as Nite Owl or Rorschach, and there is possibly a co-op mode. If all goes well, expect the game and the film in March of 09’.
